On April 26, 2025, the night sky of Sejong City was adorned with the stunning beauty of “Nakhwa” (落花), captivating the hearts of many. The annual Nakhwa Festival in Sejong proved to be yet another enchanting event, leaving no one disappointed.

Held at Sejong Lake Park, this year’s festival attracted about 105,000 visitors, all of whom were mesmerized by the allure of traditional Nakhwa fireworks. The Nakhwa fireworks fall like petals from a flower, creating a breathtaking display in the sky. As the fireworks filled the night, they seemed like works of art, drawing gasps of amazement from the crowd.

The highlight of the festival was undoubtedly the “Nakhwa” display itself. With 10,000 Nakhwa sticks hanging from trees, the fireworks created a spectacular scene, resembling a dream. As the fireworks fell, visitors exclaimed “Wow!” in unison, sharing the magical moment with smiles that truly embodied the spirit of the festival.

The Sejong Nakhwa Festival is more than just a beautiful fireworks display; it’s an opportunity to experience the depth of Korean traditional culture. The chance to witness the traditional Nakhwa method firsthand made this festival a special experience for many. This event offered more than just visual delight—it touched the hearts of the attendees.

Though it may be easy to describe as beautiful, the beauty of Nakhwa goes beyond mere awe. The falling fireworks symbolize the fleeting joys of life, and with each burst, it felt as though a wish was rising into the sky.

For anyone who has experienced the Nakhwa Festival in Sejong, it’s impossible to see it simply as just a firework show. It’s a true opportunity to immerse oneself in the beauty of Korean culture. This festival left a lasting impression, and without a doubt, I’ll be back next year to experience it all over again.
